Post-mortem pink teeth is a taphonomical phenomenon in which the breakdown of red blood cells stains the dentinal tubules and turns the teeth red-pink colour.
It has been attributed to violent deaths, especially drowning or asphyxiation but its correlation to the cause of death and its forensic relevance is still debated.
It is usually encountered in bodies in an advanced state of decomposition in a humid or wet environment.
